Hi again

Remember about a year ago when I was posting here every day? I thought that was a pretty good project, even if the vast majority of my posts weren’t that interesting — it was just to lead up to the huge personal essay on hoarding and clutter. If I wasn’t still mired in technical issues — and now it’s not just having an ancient computer and no wifi at home, it’s having a phone so full I can’t have Medium or even Instagram on it or take photos (yes, I have to figure out a non-cloud way to back things up and clear space) — I’d love to post regularly again.

Especially since I started this crazy project of watching lots of movies, after spending my whole life as an “I can’t believe you’ve never seen [name of popular or important movie]” person. I’d love to post about that. Soon.

I’d give an update on my life but it’d come off as overwhelmingly too depressing, like I need to come up with over $1200 by next Friday so my storage space doesn’t get locked (again) and need to move much more into it because I’ve been battling eviction for months AND need to spend much more time in Iowa to help ailing family. Uh, and then there’s needing a job, eyeglasses that aren’t many years out of date, the aforementioned computer. Medium seems like a place for people with some semblance of having it together and I’m afraid to admit what a shambles I’m in.

But somehow I manage to stay in a good mood day-to-day despite these challenges (and the worst spring weather of any I recall in Chicago — I’ve been here for every spring since 1996, except for most of 2020), and I hope anyone actually out there reading this is doing well.
